In the summer, Budapest often gets more sunshine than Bratislava. Budapest gets 278 hours of sunny skies this time of year, while Bratislava receives 255 hours of full sun. Budapest usually gets less rain in July than Bratislava. Budapest gets 45 mm (1.8 in) of rain, while Bratislava receives 63 mm (2.5 in) of rain this time of the year. However, deciding which city is better suited for you can be challenging. In this post, we will compare Prague and Budapest across different aspects to help you make an informed decision. 1. Architecture. Both Prague and Budapest boast breathtaking architecture that tells a story of their past. I have strong feelings we will be changing it to next year. We chose to do Budapest first only because we wanted the extra time to see the city. Our flight should arrive in Budapest by mid morning, so that gives us 2 1/2 days to explore. If we had gone from Prague to Budapest, we would lose that time. Salzburg usually receives less sunshine than Budapest during spring. Salzburg gets 155 hours of sunny skies, while Budapest receives 178 hours of full sun in the spring. In April, Salzburg usually receives more rain than Budapest. Salzburg gets 55 mm (2.2 in) of rain, while Budapest receives 42 mm (1.7 in) of rain each month for the spring. To get a real feel for Berlin’s green side, stretch your legs on a hike through the 30 sq km Grunewald Forest. The compact capital is very walkable, with the ninth-century Prague Castle (pictured) the focal point for those hoping to combine fairytale views with history. For a more strenuous stroll, spend a day trekking Divoká Šárka nature I would spend 4-3-3, Prague, Vienna, Budapest. Prague is far and away my favorite. You could easily add a day to each city. IMO it makes sense to see all 3 cities in one trip. You should consider Vienna is an excellent city for food (and in our opinion better than Prague in this respect), and whether you’re looking to try some traditional Austrian meals, or visit a more modern, international restaurant, there are many options for you. As well as suiting any taste, Viennese food also comes available for any budget. Prague is smaller and more touristy, but has plenty of sights. We had a great time wandering around the city, other than for the painful feet from walking on the cobblestones. Budapest is more of an active city with fewer crowds as others have pointed out. It takes a bit more research and planning to do Budapest properly. For me, 1st choice Budapest, by quite a long way. It's beautiful and full of life, probably my favourite European capital city. Ljubljana probably my 2nd choice, but it is really relatively quiet, truly an accidental capital city. Mellow and pretty, yes. Prague third. (Though its cultural life is better than that of Ljubljana). Prague and Salzburg are not in the same category. Prague is a big city, Salzburg has a feeling of substantially smaller town. Both are stunningly beautiful, medieval (Prague more). In Salzburg you can see the Alps around. I personally would prefer Prague. If you like beer both have very good one. In either London or Budapest, you'll find plenty of activities to fill your time. Most visitors tend to spend more time in London than Budapest because of the overall number of sights and activities. Usually, 3-7 days is a good amount of time for London, and 2-5 days is enough time in Budapest. Families should spend more time in London than Prague is going to be much cheaper but by no means any less impressive. and as a 50 something myself the fact that Prague is a much more compact city makes it easier to see the sites. If you choose Prague you have to try a half liter of a locally brewed beer because there is none better or cheaper. I have tried many and have not had a bad one yet. .
